Adam David Zimmer - Convicted Sex Offender
A pimp named Adam David Zimmer, sometimes called "Tweaker  Dave" for his addiction to drugs, showed up at a Eugene hotel last Dec. 5 to deliver a 15-year-old prostitute to a new customer.

Zimmer, behind on rent, negotiated a fee of $500 for one hour with the girl he called "Blondie." He was sexually intimate with the girl, according to government court papers, and called her one of his "prosti-tots." Zimmer confided to the john she was "super loaded" on psilocybin mushrooms.

When Zimmer knocked on a door at the La Quinta Inn, he didn’t find a john. He found a team of cops.

The guy who had arranged for the girl was an undercover Eugene Police detective, according to federal court records.

Police say they learned from an informant that Zimmer sold cocaine, heroin and marijuana. One of Zimmer's former roommates told police he gave her children drugs. Two young girls came forward to say he gave them ecstasy and offered them jobs as prostitutes.

Zimmer appeared before U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon on Monday, in Portland, to be sentenced for sex trafficking of a minor and employing a minor in drug operations. He wore blue jail scrubs and ankle chains.

His victim sat a few paces to his right. Her mom sat on a bench behind her. The girl wore jeans and a gray hoodie, looking as if she just stepped off a high school bus.

She had thought about making a statement to the court. But when given the chance, she declined.

Eugene lawyer John Halpern Jr., Zimmer's lawyer, told Simon that his client was a drug addict with mental health issues. He said Zimmer's family described him as immature -- "36 going on 16, 17" -- and was appalled by his actions. So was Zimmer, he said.

"He's ashamed of himself," Halpern said.

Zimmer stood briefly to apologized to the girl and thank his family for being there. Then it was Simon's time to comment.

"Sex trafficking and the exploitation of minors is a national -- indeed an international -- crisis," he said. Society is obligated to protect its children, he added. "You basically deprived someone of childhood."

Simon sentenced Zimmer to a little more than 10 years in prison. If he behaves himself, he's likely to get out before he turns 44.

"Mr. Zimmer," the judge said, "I wish you the best of luck. I do sense that you do want to turn your life around. I think you can."

Simon then turned to the girl, saying she had a supportive family.

"I wish you the very best of luck, too, ma'am."

The judge scheduled a hearing on Jan. 4, 2013, to decide how much restitution Zimmer would pay the girl.
