Mind Control 101: Being Told What To Do

One major issue for adult survivors of child abuse who grew up in the ultra-orthodox Jewish world is learning to think for themselves.  They have always been taught to go to their rebbe's for everything.  Yet when their rabbis are more interested in protecting offenders, assets and their own reputations -- survivors often feel extremely trapped and many start feeling suicidal.

Many chasidic survivors feel they have no other option to leave in order to heal.  They end up walking away from not only their communities, yet also their families of origin.  A huge stumbling block for these survivors is that fact that for many, they have never been taught to utilize their own personal critical thinking.
