Man held for allegedly raping his daughterc

A 58-year-old man who allegedly raped his teenage daughter repeatedly was remanded yesterday by the Rishon Letzion Magistrate's Court for five days.

Although the sexual abuse allegedly took place over the course of three years, the girl, 17, only lodged a complaint on Sunday in an Ayalon district police station. Police arrested the man, who then confessed to the crimes attributed to him.

The teenager told police investigators about ongoing abuse that began shortly after she emigrated from the former Soviet Union with her father, more than three years ago. The father beat the girl whenever she refused his demands for sexual relations, she said. Sometimes, the victim told police, the father would threaten to throw her out of their home, should she refuse to sleep with him.

The last time he made this threat was a week ago, after the daughter refused his demands for sex. With the encouragement of a friend, the girl fled from her home a few days before submitting her complaint to the police.
