Child Psychiatrist Arrested 2nd Time on Moral Charges
New York Times - July 15, 1973

Hauppauge, L.I., July 14 –– A Suffolk County child psychiatrist who was arrested and charged with child abuse lst month was arrested on a similar charge yesterday.

According to Suffolk County detectives, the psychiatrist, Dr. Michael M. Krassner, who is on the staff of the Nassau North-East Pschiatric Hospital in Kings Park, L.I. was arrested at 11:30 P.M.  Friday in his apartment at 644 Veterans Highway.  He was charge with sexual abuse of 10-year-old girl.

Dr. Krassner was arraigned yesterday in the First District Court here and later released on $500 bail, as he was in the earlier case.

According to Detective John Biscardi, Dr. Krassner, who maintains a private practice at 200 Maple Ave. in Smithtown, L.I., had been arrested on June 28 on a charge of sexual abuse of a 6-year-old girl.

Police did not identify the victims and did not say whether they were patients of the doctor.

Reached at home, Dr. Krassner called the charges "completely untrue."  He said he thought they stemmed from a day in late May, when he "forcefully put out" of his garden apartment four or five neighborhood girls who stated jumping on his bed and sofa and running around the apartment after having asked to see his collection of jade, porcelain and oriental statutes.  He had assembled the art, he aid, while serving in the Vietnam War.

"I've never done anything to harm anyone," Dr. Krassner said, "and I put my faith in God and the court of law to prove my innocence.
