Deinstitutionalization Abuse in the Jewish Community
Abuse occurs in all communities, religions, social, and cultural groups. In the last several years media attention has been directed at the Catholic Church, and while there has been some attention to other groups, much remains hidden. In this presentation, we will define abuse, discover where abusers in the Jewish community are found and whom they target, and explore how in Judaism, there are religious and communal factors that have been used to protect offenders and vilify victims.
